"Gigging and recording in Jamaica - Soooo wicked, MAN!!!”
Experiencing the Jamaican-African-Brazilian musical connection in person, while making music with incredible local artists brought me closer to my South Ameican roots. Not that I wasn’t aware of this connection… Back home, in Brazil, I grew up loving reggae, and was always interested in how both countries would connect through music. But there’s something about going there and experiencing it, that cannot be described on paper, or explained in person… - No wonder Gilberto Gil composed some amazing music in the 80’s after a few trips to Kingston.
What an amazing week, I played a super fun show with Dave Eggar’s DEORO at the Orrett Rhoden International Crossover Classical Music Festival, got to travel around the country, be an extra in a music video, meet renowned producer Clive Hunt and… record with the great legendary producer Handel Tucker, at Mixing Lab, a studio where many reggae and pop hits were created.
This island has an incredible and inspiring energy; it’s a wicked place, Maaaaan :)
